So I'm completely new to map designing. So far I've understood enough to download Map generator, and it's working. I've generated a fresh map to replace trammel, opened it with Gimp... and now here's the big question... What do I use to make the actual land?!? Do I just draw a giant green square and that's translated as grass or do I copy and paste tiles from the game?

Use an image editing program. Paint out your land with the correct swatches, and it will generate it into land for you.
