I tried freeze statics with RunUO but there appeared strange message of DataPatch.cs or something. I need to know how can I freeze the structures which I've built.

Thank you.

You need to set the path to your files in datapath.cs and you should use a copy of your UO files, not the same ones your client is using.

Got the same problem.

I've been unable to freeze the statics, although I tried the following:
a. setting datapath to two different directories (separately of course), each containing a full copy of UO, while client being run from the third
b. testing at RunUO2 RC2 and SVN 295
c. setting all the files in those datapath folders to read-only and back to non-read-only (just to make sure they're not R\O)

my current DataPath is as following:
Code:
        private static string CustomPath = @"D:\RunUO 295\MulFiles";

It all resulted in a gump window, saying that I must be running the client from the same folder the datapath is set for. It got so annoying I gave up three days ago and didn't do a thing on my shard.

So, basically, any input appreciated. I'm computer literate, no need for details, just give hints as to what to try.

Thanks

Just some ideas:

Make sure you are running the client from the original UO installation directory because that path is written to the system registry and the client will always read the MUL files from that path, no matter where the client is run from.

Try renaming the datapath directories to eliminate the space in the name (i.e. instead of RunUO 295 make it RunUO295). (That's just totally a shot in the dark but easy to try).

Thank you for suggestions, HellRazor.

I've now installed UO into new folder and ran client via razor from there, connected to shard and no luck.

I've moved the mulfiles folder to D:\ and changed datapath, no luck. I then set the NTFS permissions to allow my user ("alrick") to have full access, as well as SYSTEM user and Administrators group of users. Still no luck.

I'm now setting up my old PC to run client from there and connect to my shard on this PC. If it still fails, there's something in RunUO or the way it handles my PC configuration.

UPDATE: RunUO is unable to write to mul files even when I run client from other PC. That seems to be beyond my comprehension :?

I was having a camomile tea with my wife and I was struck with an insight!
SOLUTION: make sure that you have map1.mul, statics1.mul, staidx1.mul files in your RunUO DataPath folder, even if your client still uses map0 for moth Felucca and Trammel! I've copied my map0.mul and statics mul files with "1" (i.e. map1.mul) and it worked!
