The Dragonm2b.exe that comes with Dragon is pretty much a useless program as you cannot use it to actually edit the bmp and convert it back to a map.

Since the transition tiles are generated from surrounding tiles in the bmp, there's really no way to calculate it backwards. If you do get it to work, you'll find that your bmp has all this yellow all over. These are the translation tiles that it cannot read. Also, since Dragon only supports limited numbers of altitude, it will average to the closest match in the color table. For example, a hil with altitude 3,6,9,12 would average to 2,5,10,12. Once you convert it back to a map0, the existing statics will not line up. Some will appear to be half buried, and some will appear to be floating in air.
Long story short, Dragon is designed as a custom map creator, not a OSI map editor.

That being said, there are ways to edit it. One of the better ways is to create a custom map, with the pieces you want, then use UOCopy to paste the new pieces into the OSI map.

regardless of the version, and whether it actually successfully converts, you still can't use it to edit, then convert back.
