When Paigelore failed years ago, Ryandor and I teamed up to provide hosting for ourselves. After a couple runs of bad luck with hosting providers, we finally found one we can live with (our current host). Later, Xuri joined us, and hosts uox3.org with us as well. However, hosting certainly is not free ? and we are having a hard time covering the costs.

Since July, I have been covering all of the costs myself, and it is beginning to become difficult, so I have sat up a PayPal account that you can donate to if you feel like you would like to support our sites. Any money donated will go specifically towards covering the cost of hosting, and nothing else. Since we all share the same reseller account, any money donated will go towards all three of us (Sydius, Ryandor, and Xuri).

Anyway, without further adieu:
http://www.sydius.net

Once there have been some donations, I will list donators on that page along with the current balance and a debt total (or positive total, if we achieve it).

Oh, and please do not donate using credit cards ? if I accept them, we will have to pay a fee for EVERY donation.

Current Balance: $0.00

Would anyone be willing to donate if we were giving away stuff? Like, perhaps, rights to some cool map, personalized help with something (emulation/programming related?)??

$0.50 would even help. Think of the children! THE CHILDREN!

Well you could do like RUNUO and promise people the world to get them to donate a quad rack server to run test shards on along with over 8k in cash then only update your EMU once a year to string them along. ( I think thats what they were bragging about getting in their forums )

I'll donate an unspecified (as of yet) amount soon, just have to figure out some paypal stuff first. If I first transfer money from my bank account to paypal (which might take a few days, according to paypal), it should be alright to send them to your paypal account from there, right Syd?

Guys, I've been trying to inform you that I work for a hosting company. I will have a bad ass machine on a rack here very soon. You will be more than welcome to host your sites on it. It will be free... no bandwidth cost, no space cost.

Let me know.

That's a kind offer, Nezgruhel - and I'm not complaining - though over the years I've experienced that free hosting has one big problem attached to it; No real guarantees that the one providing the free hosting won't suddenly change his/her mind or find himself unable to provide the hosting on a continous basis because his/her situation has changed.

Just saying.

Free hosting sounds nice neverthless though =) hehe.

Nah, it wouldn't be like that.

I plan on staying with this company for a very long time (It's expanding rapidly, and I see nothing but me going up up up). I'm actually donating this machine to be used for me and my friends needs at work. That means it will belong to both him and myself...

Because of this, even if something horrible where to happen, like say I died... He'd still be around to make sure the machine stayed up.

It's your guys' call. It's gonna be sitting on a professional companies network, so you guys can expect that the machine will stay up. They won't charge me for bandwidth. I'll have a fair amount of space on it... you guys won't have to ask for donations, and if you continue to do so you can at least put the money towards something else... like improvements or whatnot.
