TDS - The Darkside Shard


The Darkside has been up since June 2, 2000 with an average player base of 150 online and a peak of
225 players online.


One of the Largest Player Run shard available. If you want to meet a lot of new and exciting people TDS is
the place for you.

Auto Account
You can start immediately but you must download 30MB of TDS files to play on the server.

No Regs
No Reagents for most spells.

Necromancy
Necromancy is fully working and available to aspiring Necromancers.

PK/NONPK Tags
Players can chose between two paths of playing - NonPK and PK:
NonPK - is the best way to start for a new player to this game (check the rules about being a NonPK)
PK - a fun way for experienced players to play
*note: a player can start a NonPK and change to PK, but the reverse is impossible so chose your type of play style carefully.

No Skill Cap/Stat Cap
TDS is unique in that it has no skill or stat caps. meaning you can have 100 str/int/dex, and GM in every skill. furthermore, the use of rare items found from monsters can get you up to a theoretical 200.0 in each skill/stat.

Craft Mastery
In order to introduce craft diversity, Players can pick up craftmastery which provide an enhancement over existing items they already can make.

PK Disciplines
In order to introduce combat diversity, PK players can learn combat disciplines which supplement their skills.
The disciplines of celerity, potence, fortitude, quietus and obeah allows PK players to have the ability to pick tactical advantages in fights.

New NPCs
Besides the all too common npc scripts which every shard seems to have, TDS has awesome
new npcs.

Hauliers that give you little quests to transport cargo items from one city to another city, giving some gold and trinkets (good way for new players to have fun and collect useful items),

Bounty Hunters send you out to kill an npc for a modest reward.

new monsters graphics( new graphic file patch needed to view this new monsters).

Lots of AD&D style monsters, such as dragons that have area effect breath weapons of cold,fire, chlorine, acid, lightning. Pit fiends that gate in attendant monsters , etc

Lots of different mounts to tame, with a large variety of colours like Steeds, Rainbow Horses, Llamas.

For Players who donate, they can also claim the ever popular Ethereal Rides including the ridable ethereal vortex,bears and dragons.

Custom Map
TDS has modified the OSI map, removing the T2a landmass and making general improvements in some areas and adding landmass in others.
The map is a constant work in progress.


Custom Scripts

TDS having been established for 2 years now, has some of the most advanced scripts available.

Vendor Stone: Tired of the same buggy vendor npcs that run off with your stock, tds has scripted vendor stones that accomplish the same purpose.

Bag of Holding: Don't you just hate clutter, the bag of holding allows you to store possibly ALL your items into one neat package. furthermore, the bag of holding has the advantage as counting as only 1 item, thus making a server of this size with a low item count thus reducing lag.

Lore Books: A type of trinket that when used gives skill permanently for the player.

Uniques: These are the major magical items in the world from the mundane level 1's to the awesome Lvl 6's
which can be found occasionally on the toughest monsters in the world


Craftables
TDS has lots of craftable items and more are being added all the time.

Tinkering - gem armor, special armor suits such as dark paladin,light paladin, poltergeist, encrusted jewelry

Tailoring - Dusted Clothing

Blacksmithing - Tons of Armor, Weapons and Tempered weapons

Bowcrafting - Lots of new bows, and bows composed of rare wood.

Carpentry - you craft your own houses and boats. TDS has a total of 111 house designs. you get to make special wooden weapons and armor from rare logs

Bulk Orders
An adaption of OSI's bulk order system for tailors, blacksmiths.



Simulated Sphere 51a Combat System
Reactive Armor Absorbs 50% melee damage.
Wrestling above 60.0 contributes towards a chance of NOT fizzling when hit in melee attack.
Magic Resistance above 60.0 contributes towards a chance of NOT fizzling when hit in melee attack as well as spell damage absorbtion.

Complex House System
House commands that allow you to move your decorations around,
the ability to change your house door from keyless magic teleport, Guild Players only, Normal Mode.
Death Chests in the house that only Your Account and death chest friends can access, thus negating the house looting problems that is so common on all other shards

Thousands of Unique Weapons, Armor, Jewelry and Dye Tubs, that will help you fight hard monsters, help
you craft those really difficult items.
