Just thought I'd show the map I'm currently working on my shard. The plan is to start off small with the playerbase, then allow the players to affect the world geography through static patches.

Yea, theres two grass areas, each for a town. You can't see it on UOAM but theres actually mixed grass levels in there creating the hilly effect on some of the more plain parts of the map.

I appreciate the criticism, thanks.

That's a really nice map. InsideUO has a function in it to show the altitudes a little bit when you save the map in it. You should put some smaller forests around as well :)

Btw, I advise to place something like... dirt or so around where you want to place your buildings (or cobblestone) so it's easier to build, and the grass statics won't mess it up. (Such as having a tree in the middle of your house all of a sudden when you run the map through DragonSP again, or having flowers in your house.) Flowers are most annoying, as you don't really think they'll mess up your building, but they're still visible through your tiles ;P

Yea, I took that into account as well. I melted out the items in the square radius of my town, I plan to use a variety of stone pavers to give a more ancient look to it. On the archipelago though, you notice how I already made the pathways :)

I'll just reinforce what everyone else said:
Too much grass, add some forest.
Nice coastlines.
Dirt or cobble is better for town. Although I'm a fan of the plan it out and make the building floors part of the map method.

Very nice, the land shape is very realistic. Thats the most important thing about map making, in order to keep yourself interested over the long haul :)

Keep pluging away, it will look great
