I've been trying to find a decent tool to use to add some new items.

Do any of you know of a really good tool to add in new items into UO? Plus where would one download the tool you recommend.

Try MulPatcher located here:

This will patch it directly into the .mul files. Most of the older programs on their web site uses the older format and will not work with the new clients.

theres one I have been using awhile.. Its especially fast and great for adding custom item art into the mul files

cant think of any sites atm though.
