I know very little about OpenGL, but have enjoyed what it has been able to let me do. When I did WordForge, and then later the WorldMaker series, I was really amazed at texture mapping, and how it took care of the stretching/tilting of the tiles.

What I didn't focus on, was the rich support for native raster operations. Thus, those old tools had a LOT of overhead, as everything was put into a texture.

Now, refleting and working on the client, it becomes obvious, that was a rather awkward, and slow way of doing it.

Almost to the point of wanting to update those olds tools......

Hehe...that last line made me laugh. It "sounded" so....Can't think of the word....

Like you suddenly have this interest in doing that but are telling yourself "no, no, no..."

Of course, I could be WAY off. ;)
