I'd like to modify my client to change the wrap point used by OSI (x=5120). I looked around on the forums and found an old tutorial:

http://www.ryandor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2775

However, my client is only 1140KB leaving my address space ending at 11:D000h, where as the address space in the tutorial goes up to 18h. I tried to do a find on the string "00 1C 00 00 00 10" which would be the normal maps dimension, but the search fails. Similar searches for the wrap x and wrap y value fail as well.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? Has anyone successfully modified their client?

Two questions come to mind.

One, what client version are you attempting this on. Please note that the client I used was in the 5.x.x range (Off the top of my head), I never tried with anything lower, although when I write the application to automate it, I will be looking into the most popular versions.

Two, what client type are you using, 2D or 3D. This was only tested on 2D, I am not sure if 3D is indentical or not, I would almost say not, being that it was mostly a rewrite.

The client was 2.x.x.x and 2D. May just wait to update to 4.x.x.x when it should be identical to your attempt at modifying the hex.

While 2.x.x.x lacks Malas and other maps, it seemed like it should still be possible to search for the strings containing the map wrap. Sadly, however, there were no 'obvious' matches to the x/y points.

I'll grab a 2.x client today and see if I can produce any results.

Its highly possible that OSI rewrote this piece in later clients (Could be 3.x or 4.x) sometime which is why it became easier to find.
