What do you mean you "copy and paste"? You should load the colors into your Photoshop and select them from the "Swatches".

The png is a reference chart, it was never meant to be used as a palette.
There is an aco, act and a pal. The aco and act are Photoshop colortable and swatchfile, which is what most of us use. The pal is for...I don't even remember what program. Spudz777 made a Gimp palette for mod 11 as well. I may or may not have gotten off my fat arse and uploaded it to the ftp.

A very few people use MS Paint and unfortunately they are the only ones that can really help you. Melody proved that it can be done, but from what little experimentation I've done with it it isn't worth the trouble.

There are other programs you can use, and there are people here who use them and could help you out.

Aside from getting a real paint program (like Photoshop) , Gimp is a free download and (from what I hear) is much better than MS Paint. I would recommend one or the other.

The palette file can be found here, at least for now.

Keep in mind that the palette file by itself doesn't really do anything. You have to have a bmp which is indexed to the palette, since Dragon doesn't care what the actual colors are, only what index they are. In Gimp, start with a blank image of appropriate size, go to Image->Mode->Indexed, select Use Custom Palette, select the file you just downloaded into your Gimp Palettes directory, and un-check "Remove unused colors from final palette".

PS The download link does seem to be broken in the main download section... Someone might want to fix that...?

Hrmmm...something wrong with my account.
I have admin permissions and I can access and add files, the upload says success at the bottom but there are lines above says access denied.
Ry please fix.

Fixed.
You uploaded (and hence failed) to the wrong directory.
try "files" instead of "file".

I would have seen this sooner if you'd have sent me a pm :P

I'm having the same problem, using Photoshop CS.
I did everything just like that MapMaking tutorial says, and when I run dragon, everything turns to grass. The colortable that comes with the mod is correct?

Which tutorial? Which template? The one written for mod9? No, it isn't going to work for mod11.

Actually it most likly is your problem. Try reloading your color tables, you might need to index them.

Make sure you're clear on the way the files have to be created and indexed. It sounds to me like you're simply creating a new file and not indexing it to the palette. Read my previous post in this thread for a basic set of instructions, and ask if you need more help.

thanks, sure it's my problem.. but i am new in this

i am not sure if i can fully understand the sentences:

"Make sure you're clear on the way the files have to be created and indexed. It sounds to me like you're simply creating a new file and not indexing it to the palette."

i am making map like this:

open photoshop.. add palette (dragon-mod1.aco), then draw some map with water and grass.. save it like 8bit bmp
open dragon, add mymap.bmp and map0.mul (map0.mul is copied from UO)
compile the map..
use dragonsp...
rewrite map0.mul, statics0 and staidx0 in RunUO directory and in UO

i can see drawed map but the terrain is different, it's because i am doing something wrong.. but what?
