I'm new to map making, and I was just modifing the Tokuno map just to learn how things work and all that.
I used GIMP to create my map image, and MapGenerator to generate the map files.
The map turned out really ugly in the places where the land connects with water (same stuff happened with lava connecting with sand and almost any terrain type connections)

Here's how it looks

How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Hello!

I tend to analyze my maps by trial and error (still haven't figured out enbarkments  ) so I might be completly wrong here but are you sure you have painted atleast 5 tiles of "shallow water" extending from your land-tiles?

You need to have some (I use between 5-10 tiles) shallow water as a buffert before you use "deep water"

It looks like you haven't generated statics yet. The static tiles contain all of the landscape transitions. Unfortunately, I haven't actually made a map with Map Generator yet, so I don't know exactly what steps you're missing...

Yeah thats the thing, it seems the transitions hasnt been generated. As far as I can se, it is due to the fact there is no buffer of shallow water. In mapgen (correct me if im wrong) "shallow water <-> grass" has the transitions, among others, to make smooth coastlines.

This is not simply forgetting to use shallow water (although it looks like that is also a problem). All of the transitions are missing. Sometime over the next week or so I'll look into MapGen. I've been meaning to forever, but UO has been low-priority lately...
