The program works fine to replace the in-game maps, but you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get the input correct. Off the top of my head, you need a monochrome (black and white) bmp image, sized 2560x2048 (remove the dungeon area of the map, then resize to half size). The results are best if you use some sort of edge detection to create the monochrome bmp.

It depends on which cartograph program one is talking about. I made one a while back, that based on tile types, would analys the map0.mul, and generaate a multmap.rle. there where others that took a bmp, and made a multimap.rle.

However, that is quite old, and I have no idea if it still is valid agains current maps (given the expansion in tiles that may be used).

The one I'm refering to takes a monochrome bmp and turns it into the multimap.rle file you use in the client data. Since the map expansions only added to the dungeon area of map0.mul and thus should work fine.

I'd love to play with the one you made that reads the mul files directly, though! Is it still available?

Dian is the master cartographer guy, bet he has a copy of it laying around. Of course I'm sure I do as well somewhere in this heaping pile of ....disk I have stacked all over my office.

If Dian dosen't have one handy then I'll dig around and see what I can find. Bet Ry has a copy somewhere too, he's a packrat like me.
