It's okay. A lot like Diablo 2, and by "a lot", I mean "a whole lot", and by "a whole lot", I actually mean, "it's Diablo 2 with better graphics but no random map generator."

...

If you like Diablo 2, which I do, you would like Titan Quest. Great "smash, loot, smash" game to play over LAN with friends.

If you use maces and go back to the start of the game after gaining some levels, so that anything you kill is overkilled, it will actually throw the monster when you hit it -- sometimes across the screen and against the side of a cliff, heh. The longest flight time I've managed was about 3 seconds -- the poor guy flew almost as high as you do when you get directly hit by artillery in BF2.

Thats the only downside of course. Loot plops around on the ground for afew seconds, sometimes it falls off cliffs.

Bah, I don't care about loot, anyway. After an hour or two, I realized that only the high-end magical loot is even worth picking up.

You silly boys got me interested in trying this game out.

Now I've got to come up with $49 and an excuse to my dh as to why I need to buy, and play, another videogame. ;)

I played the demo, got to Sparta and it said "Congratulations! You've finished the demo!"

*pout*

Okay....seeing as it's all your fault I've started playing this silly game, I come to you for advice. ;)

HOW the heck do you deal with that crazy Telkine that summons copies of himself??

Just for information; I'm a Summoner (Nature/Earth) with two wolves, a nymph and a core dweller.

Any hints?

Thanks,

That guy has a lot of health, but if I remember right, only the real one has a ton of it. The key is just to stay alive along enough to outlast them.

The truth of it is, though, I play a Spell Breaker (warrior + spirit), and my girlfriend plays a Battle Mage (warrior + earth), so we are both, essentially, tanks (warrior is our primary class, both specializing on dual-wielding). My buffs allow us to mow down undead, and hers give us extra damage against everything else.

It does increase the difficulty when you play with another person, but it is still easier than going it alone -- though I have not had any problem doing that, either. We generally stay a level or two above the monsters we are killing, though not on purpose -- we spend too much time revisiting places to look for treasure.

The only monster we did not kill our first try was the cyclops in the Greek lands (and even now, he gives us a bit of trouble when we solo him).

Thanks for the reply. :)

Oh, I hate that cyclops guy! I didn't even know what to expect until he did that one spell that took my life down to practically nothing. :shakes head:

But, I finally managed to kill that blasted Telkine, after dying to him about six times. My son suggested going up the stairs behind him and casting from there. I found a staff that has a small "disrupt for 3 sec" on it and, apparently, (luckily for me) it stopped him from casting that "copy" spell when I first got in there. For some reason, he didn't even try it again later, unless the disrupt works multiple times.

So, now I've just been going back over the bosses in Greek and Egypt trying for a full set of armor of SOME kind. lol

I must admit, the patch has helped in that endeavor.

Thanks, again.

Edited to add: I found a ring early on called a "ritual" something. It has "more damage to" and "less damage from" undead, demons and magical creatures. So, that's helped a LOT in Egypt. :)

We collect armor pieces, but we do not worry too much about collecting full sets of anything. My girlfriend is going for an Egyptian one that looks like it is made out of feathers (odd, for a warrior, but it looks nice on her), and I am going for the Babylon one. Honestly, though, the game is too easy as it is without a full set.

Feathers? Hmm....*thinks*.. I've only found one piece of Ramses armor in Egypt so far. What I hate is the pieces that have all these good stats then have +str or dex or whatever on them, too. Then I go and buy some nice weapon or other piece, not realize it's dependent on that piece I have with the extra str/dex/int, so I'm stuck with the well-statted (is that a word) one until I can add points to make up the difference..

Ah, well, it's still fun and that's something coming from a gal who typically detests "hack and slash" games. :)

Yeah, it's Ramses I think. She's found all but the head dress. I think you always get a piece in the Ramses tomb.

As for stats -- I hear ya -- same thing happens to me all the time, with dex. In the end, I dexxed up my warrior and switched from slow to very fast weapons... took a 50% cut in my damage per second, which hurt, but with all the dual-wielding skills maxed, I more than make up for it.

Are the Epic and Legendary levels exactly the same as the "normal" one only with higher levels on the same creatures? I ask because I just unlocked the Epic level and went in and the first part *looks* exactly the same.

Do you know if it changes later? If not, I'll likey not play those, since it'd be just like playing on "normal", since while the creatures are higher level, so am I.

I think it is the same. Like Diablo.

The idea being that it is harder, even though you are a higher level. Supposedly, you get one-hit-killed a lot in the last setting.

If you like these kind of games you should really check out the Dungeon Siege series. I have all of them right now, except the new expansion for Dungeon Siege 2. Which I am picking up tomorrow. Great games. Better Graphics. You all would love them.

Has a custom weapon making NPC if you find certain enchantable items and reagents. Set items, rare items, uniques, hard creatures, even harder quest areas... Tarnak Hunters will roxxor your world!!! They are in act I... and omg.. they take 10 dmg... max a hit... have over 600 life. The CHAMPIONS!! OMFG... 3000 life and 2 hit killers. Was mad fun killing them!!

Check it out. It is D2 UNPLUGGED in HACK and SLASH

I liked Titan Quest more than I liked any of the Dungeon Siege games. In fact, I thought the first Dungeon Siege was crap by the time I finished it, and the ending was one of the worst endings I've seen in a game (a pop-up telling you that you won and informing you that you can play again, if you want -- I didn't). The second Dungeon Siege is a lot better than the first, though.
