Speaking of such... I was going to mess around with Half Life the other day and couldn't get any internet games to show up (and could update either). I know it's been a long time since I've done it and assumed that b/c of Steam,etc (and the fact HL 2 is out now) that HL internet games weren't possible. Correct me if I'm wrong and a run down of how to get it working over the internet. Also, If anyone is interested I actually made a couple HL maps last year. Nothing special, just for messing around with. -Ryandor |

yeah, offialy you only can play half life and it's mod using steam. but there is a custom woncomm.lst around, which allows you to play on a couple (around 200) of cs 1.5 servers (i do not know if the other hl mods work, too). that's the woncomm.lst you have to use to play cs 1.5 without steam. just edit the one in half life/valve/ Code: // Server Lists
// Titan { half-life.east.won.net:6003 half-life.west.won.net:6003 half-life.central.won.net:6003 } Auth { half-life.east.won.net:7002 half-life.west.won.net:7002 half-life.central.won.net:7002 } Master { zvdk.nl:27010 // half-life.east.won.net:27010 // half-life.west.won.net:27010 // half-life.central.won.net:27010 } ModServer { half-life.east.won.net:27011 half-life.west.won.net:27011 half-life.central.won.net:27011 } Secure { half-life.speakeasy-nyc.hlauth.net:27012 half-life.speakeasy-sea.hlauth.net:27012 half-life.speakeasy-chi.hlauth.net:27012 } |

Someone explain this to me? Steam? Not able to play on other servers? I haven't played CS in a few years, since right before 1.3 came out. |

steam is valve's (hl developer's) tool to ship their games over the internet. every cs, hl, cs:cz, cs:s, hl2 and so on patch has to be downloaded using steam and you can't play those game withoput steam running. (hl2 has to be activated by steam) the problem is: steam is buggy (sometimes they have to do a few revisions on an patch in ordner to get it to work.) everytime an update or new game is avaible through steam, the steam servers are dying when hl2 was released, steam was totally overloaded for some days. before they invented steam to torture players, you played counterstrike using the won gaming network. this network was disabled by valve. |

WON was 1000000000000000000 times better than Steam, because of steam i deleted HL off my computer it like valve spyware but worse |
